David F. Talevi Foundation
Founded in 2011, the David F. Talevi Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports local and national charities to honor the legacy of Mr. David Francis Talevi, a 38-year resident of Wells, Maine. He lived his life with integrity, intelligence, kindness and an unparalleled passion for community, family and education.
The mission of the Foundation is to promote support for an engaged community, the health of its families and the education of its children through support of local and national charities solving issues that affect quality of life and the health of families everywhere and offering scholarships to students for continuing education.
Community
In 1972, Dave and his wife, Elaine, began welcoming families to Sea-Vu Campground, a seasonal resort in the center of Wells, Maine. While raising their own family, Dave volunteered and served on many committees within town government: planning board, comprehensive plan implementation committee, and as Chairman of the Wells Sanitary District. A valued patron of the community, he generously contributed to town endeavors, including Laudholm Farm, Wells Urgent Care Center, Senior Center and Harbor Park. In tribute to Dave’s commitment to service, the Town of Wells dedicated its annual report to him in 2010.
Family
In the spirit of healthy families, the Foundation sponsors annual fundraising events at Sea-Vu Campground, owned and operated by the Talevi family in Wells, Maine. Local residents, tourists and seasonal visitors participate in walks, bike rides and family entertainment. All event proceeds are donated to select causes, solving issues that affect quality of life and the health of families everywhere.
Education
Since 2011, through the generosity of its donors, the David F. Talevi Foundation offers Happy Camper Scholarships to children (age 17 to under 25) of a seasonal family at a Talevi seasonal resort and graduating seniors at Wells High School to assist in their post-secondary education.
David Talevi Bike Ride
The 2021 Annual David F. Talevi Bike Ride raised $6,735. Thank you to all the participants!
